Michael Hamlin was born on November 21, 1985 and was raised in Timmonsville, South Carolina. Michael Hamlin attended Lamar High School where various polls and surveys put him as the #11 safety in the nation.
After redshirting at Clemson in 2004, Michael Hamlin ended his 2005 season with several interceptions and tackles.
In 2006, Michael Hamlin started off strong. He recorded 64 tackles in 10 games and was the winner of the Ironman Award for defense. However, a broken foot prevented Hamlin from playing in the next 3 games. He rebounded quickly from the injury and saw action in the last several games of the season.
In 2007, Michael Hamlin was voted to be a co-captain of the team and was on several watch lists in anticipation of a break-out year. He stayed free of injury and had a successful season.
In early 2008, Michael Hamlin was chosen as one of several Bronko Nagurski Watch-list players. If he performs well in 2008, he will receive the prestigious award in December.
