Mark Buchholz has spent more of his life as a soccer player rather than a football athlete. During his time at Clemson, for instance, Buchholz spent his first 3 years playing soccer as a starter and leading scorer since his freshman season in 2004.

In 2007, Buchholz came out for the football team as a placekicker. Although he finished his 4 years playing soccer, he will still be able to play football through fall 2008.

Buchholz's 2007 football season had its ups and downs. In a single game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Buchholz missed 4 of 5 fieldgoals, ending in the team's loss. At other points, he performed well under pressure.
