Kevin Steele joined the Clemson Tigers coaching staff in January 2009 as the Clemson Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers coach. Kevin Steele has 23 years of experience at the college level, and four years of experience in the NFL.

Before joining Clemson University, Kevin Steele was the associate head coach and head coach of defense at the University of Alabama. Kevin Steele also spent four years at Florida State as executive head coach and linebackers coach, helping the Florida State Seminoles finish 10-3 in his first year.

Kevin Steele was named the number-one college football recruiter by Rivals.com for his recruiting class in February 2005.

In his head coaching career, Kevin Steele was head coach at Baylor University from 1999-2002. Kevin Steele was the linebackers coach for the Carolina Panthers in 1995, when the Panthers played home games at Clemson Memorial Stadium.

Kevin Steele graduated in 1981 from the University of Tennessee and started his coaching career in 1981 as a graduate assistant and moved into an outside linebacker position the next year. In 1983, he became recruiting coordinator and linebackers coach at New Mexico State.
