After walking onto the team in 2005, Jimmy Maners has slowly been building up his skill as a back-up punter. He saw no playing time in 2005, a single punt in 2006, and then was on the first team in 2007.

After a lot of hard work and dedication, Jimmy Maners was recognized as "most improved" in the weightroom and on the field in spring 2007. His strong work ethic has caught the coaches' attention and his final season in 2008 should be rewarded with more playing time and accurate kicks.

Jimmy Maners hails from Rock Hill, North Carolina and graduated from Northwestern High School. His brother, Bartett, lettered 2 times in football and his father played college ball as well.
