Byron Clear was born on May 30, 1989 in Birmingham, Alabama. He attended Hoover high school where he began his football career as a defensive end. Currently standing at 6’6” and weighing 220lbs, Byron Clear was a versatile high school defensive player that moved from linebacker to defensive end but now is best as a defensive end at the college level.

Byron Clear has a twin brother, Brandon Clear, that is a wide receiver and a fellow University Clemson signee. After playing only two years of high school football, Byron Clear chose to play for the Clemson Tigers over Illinois, North Carolina State, Northwestern, Stanford, Syracuse and UCLA.
