Barry Humphries was born on November 4, 1986 and grew up in Anderson, South Carolina. While attending Belton-Honea Path High School, Humphries was an all state pick as both a football player and discus thrower on the track team.

Barry Humphries red-shirted his 2005 season and officially joined the team in 2006. As a red-shirted freshman, Humphries averaged a block every 5.09 plays, which was the best on the team. He played just 84 snaps but made his presence known.

In 2007, Humphries was officially known as the strongest player on the team with a bench press of 460 pounds and squat of 635. He saw more playing time in 2007 and became a more agressive player with a year of experience under his belt.
